From Sketch to Stone — How Our Pieces Come to Life

From Sketch to Stone — How Our Pieces Come to Life

Gabriela Maier

Every Artegemma creation begins not in gold or stone, but in intention, a line on paper, a thought shaped by emotion, a moment of inspiration drawn from Gabriela's design mind.

The first stage of the process is quiet and intuitive. Gabriela sketches not just what a piece will look like, but how it should feel, how it should move with the body, how it should sit on the hand, how it should empower the woman wearing it. Her sketches are informed by a deep love of jewellery history, the bold geometry of Art Deco, the liberated curves of 1970s design but she always adds her own instinctual twist.

Once the form is right, the search for the perfect stone begins. Tsavorites, sapphires, rubies, and diamonds are all selected individually, chosen not for uniformity, but for their purity, intensity, and soul. Every stone is meant to belong to its design, not just fit into it.

From there, the magic becomes material. Master artisans begin crafting the piece by hand, shaping the gold, setting the stones, polishing every surface until it becomes a small sculpture of elegance.

Nothing is rushed. Nothing is automated. Every Artegemma piece is the result of human creativity and craftsmanship, a process that honours beauty, patience, and care.

When you wear an Artegemma jewel, you carry not only a finished object, but the entire story behind it. From the first sketch to the final polish. From idea to art.
